How Does FotoFacial–AgeDelay Work?
FotoFacial–AgeDelay uses broadband light (BBL), also known as intense pulsed light (IPL), to achieve smoother, healthier, younger looking skin that ages more slowly. Pulsed light energy accesses deep tissue, working one layer at a time to jumpstart the production of collagen and elastin, the key ingredients for youthful skin. Unlike other energy-based treatments that destroy and regrow the skin’s surface, FotoFacial–AgeDelay uses light pulses that penetrate deep layers of skin while a cooling system keeps surface cells protected.
TIGHTEN AND LIFT WITHOUT SURGERY
Studies show that broadband light (BBL), is a safe and effective way to resurface the skin, treat acne, sun damage, brown spots, lesions, scars, rough skin, and even remove unwanted hair. But that’s not all. Photofacials also stimulate the production of collagen deep in the dermis, so skin is firmer, tighter, and revitalized. Our male patients are thrilled with the results, which is why Dr. Bitter’s system is the gold standard for skin resurfacing.
What are the Benefits of FotoFacial–AgeDelay?
Diet and exercise are great supplemental aids to a healthful glow, but they cannot take you to the celebrity-worthy levels a FotoFacial–AgeDelay treatment can. Recover skin’s youthful properties and treat many common skin conditions.
BENEFITS INCLUDE:
All-Over Skin Rejuvenation
Put your best face, neck, arms, legs, and shoulders forward with the versatile ability of this system to affect the skin and the body. Great skin year-round!
Minimal Discomfort
The cooling feature of the FotoFacial-AgeDelay treatment means minimal patient discomfort. However, a topical agent can be applied to the skin for increased comfort for sensitive patients.
Increased Collagen and Elastin Growth
Collagen and elastin, the two components that give skin its youthful appearance, diminish over time. By penetrating deep into the skin, FotoFacial–AgeDelay kickstarts the regeneration of these critical proteins, resulting in a brighter, younger-looking complexion.
Long-Term Hair Removal
With just a few sessions, enjoy the long-term effects of hair removal in targeted areas across the body. When used for hair removal, men concerned with excess back, neck, or chest hair can take advantage of a hair reduction solution that also leaves their skin looking great.
Resurfaced in a Flash!
One of the added benefits of a FotoFacial is the ease with which it can fit into your busy schedule. With treatments lasting only 15-minutes, patients will quickly be on their way, without anyone at the office or gym being any the wiser.

Dr. Bitter promises his patients that if they, too, undergo FotoFacial—AgeDelay treatments twice a year, their skin will look as young as it looks today for the next 30 years.
Long-term studies indicate that 45-year-old patients can maintain their appearance for ten years with FotoFacial treatments. Read that again: ten years! Preparation for a FotoFacial
Staying hydrated, following a proper diet, and wearing sunscreen are excellent supplemental aids to maintaining healthy skin, so patients are encouraged to continue these habits. Additionally, close adherence to the following suggested steps leading up to your treatment will mean maximizing your results and keeping your skin safe:
- Avoid sunburn.
- Stop taking anti-inflammatory medications (temporarily).
- Discontinue the use of prescribed skincare products.
The FotoFacial Procedure
A FotoFacial–AgeDefy procedure lasts only 15 minutes. Each process starts with cleansing the skin before a numbing topical agent is applied to alleviate discomfort. Next, a cooling gel will help the broad-spectrum light from the FotoFacial wand penetrate the deeper layers of skin. You’ll be given special goggles to protect your eyes during the treatment, and afterwards skin cells quickly rejuvenate while you continue your routine. Dr. Bitter recommends two to four treatments per year for the best results.
Recovery
The improved effects of a FotoFacial–AgeDefy treatment will be seen over a few days but will steadily continue to improve. Patients may experience some redness and swelling, which may feel like a mild sunburn. Resist the urge to scratch or remove the healing skin if scabbing occurs. Continued treatments will reveal progressively improved skin.
Patients can assist in recovery by following these additional steps:
- Cleanse the treated areas two to five times a day. Dr. Bitter will recommend the best products for cleansing after treatment.
- Apply protective skincare products as suggested by Dr. Bitter.
- Use sunscreen every day – no exceptions!
- Use moisturizer liberally to combat dry skin.
