Botox for Men In LOS GATOS, CA

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Los Gatos, Mountain View, Palo Alto and San Jose, CA

Botox is a highly popular anti-aging injectable treatment intended to prevent facial wrinkles, fine lines, and more. Although women have historically made up the majority of those seeking cosmetic treatments, more men are taking advantage of the many effective options available today. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), Botox or Botulinum Toxin Type A treatment saw a 182% increase in treatments performed on men from 2000 to 2020. And why not? Botox is an effective way to prevent dynamic wrinkles, the lines and creases that form as a result of the muscle contractions made during facial expressions.

The science behind Botox is straightforward. Once injected into the muscle, the neurotoxin temporarily prevents the communication responsible for muscle contractions. No contraction means no lines and wrinkles.

Men know that their appearance matters, and that there’s no reason not look your best. Today, the options are endless. Whether you’re interested in accentuating your assets or turning back the clock, there are countless effective procedures that can help you improve your aesthetic. And, that doesn’t have to involve surgery. Botox injections are fast, and the payoff is real. In the hands of a skilled injector, men can get smoother, more youthful skin, without worrying about looking feminine.

The muscles of our faces are constantly moving, conveying our complex emotions and thoughts, whether we’re conscious of it or not. And as time passes, our skin loses its resiliency, and those movements result in dynamic wrinkles such as crow’s feet, glabellar lines, and frown lines. Men can keep these creases at bay, and enjoy younger-looking skin with the help of a simple Botox treatment. It’s important to choose an injector that understands that there are different considerations when performing Botox injections for men. Apart from the areas that need to be targeted vs. avoided to preserve a masculine appearance, the dosage of Botox is different as well. Men actually need a much higher dose of Botox than women do because of their larger muscle mass and other anatomical differences. This is particularly important when treating forehead lines and crows feet. Men have wider forehead muscles, and larger muscles surrounding the eye – the orbicularis oculi. And while it’s considered attractive for women to have arched eyebrows, men have lower, more prominent eyebrows, so injectors need to be careful to avoid targeting muscles that will create that arch and a feminine effect.

How Botox Works

Botox is derived from the bacteria Botulinum Toxin Type A, a safe neurotoxin. Like the more dangerous neurotoxins that poisonous animals use to paralyze their prey, Botox prevents the muscle from receiving the message from the nerve, and movement is temporarily disabled. The neuromodulator Botox targets the neuromuscular junction, where the message is communicated from the nervous system to the muscle via a chemical called acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter. Botox attaches itself to the neuromuscular junction and prevents acetylcholine from being released, so the muscle simply never gets the message to contract.

When Botox is injected into the targeted muscles like the frontalis muscle of the forehead, or the orbicularis oculi that surrounds the eye, the muscles remain relaxed rather than contracting, and forehead creases and crows feet are unable to form. Instead, patients enjoy a composed, calm-looking expression, and smoother skin free from lines and wrinkles.

Ideal Candidates in Silicon Valley

Most men over 18 years old who want skin unaffected by time and stress are excellent Botox candidates. While the treatment has helped a wide range of patients, the treatment may not be for everyone. Men considering Botox treatment would first meet with Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology to ensure the following criteria are met:

In recent years, Botox has begun to be used to treat certain medical conditions. Not only can it treat wrinkles, but the injectable can also provide relief from these ailments:

Personal Consultation with Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology

We’ll get to know your reasons for treatment during your consultation. The meeting will begin with a new patient intake interview where we’ll ask a few pertinent questions about your health. Our medical staff will then meticulously examine your skin to assess the severity of facial creases. Once the evaluation is complete, the team will suggest Botox or another cosmetic treatment. Finally, we’ll pencil you in for your treatment time and date if you agree with our recommendation.

To schedule your appointment, please call (408) 358-5757 or click here to make one over the internet.

The good thing about this treatment is that there is little preparation needed. Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology has a few recommendations before treatment. They include:

Patients receiving a Botox treatment will meet either with Physician Assistant Kelly or Nurse Nancy. We’ll first cleanse and disinfect the treatment area and apply a topical anesthetic. Next, Botox is strategically injected into the muscles in the predetermined areas. Once injected, the Botulinum toxin type A will work to stop muscle contractions that cause dynamic wrinkles in the face.  This process is repeated with each treatment area, and once complete, you are free to leave and resume your daily routine.

While you can rejoin your normal activities after treatment, please wait 24 hours before engaging in physically demanding activities. After the procedure, minimal to moderate evidence of swelling, tingling, redness, and bruising may occur. This is normal and should decrease within 2-3 days with the help of an ice pack and Tylenol. Also, please refrain from touching the treated areas because this may cause the botulinum toxin to migrate.

After your Botox injections, you can look forward to youthful, unlined skin while retaining a masculine appearance. Any bruising or swelling from the injections will resolve in a few days, at which point the Botox will have begun to take effect. By the fourth day after injection, the Botox will be working its magic and will have maximum effect for the next several weeks. Botox usually wears off in about four months, at which point muscle movement will gradually return to the treated areas. However, the results can be extended for up to a year with additional sessions.

Corresponding & Complementary Procedures

There’s more to anti-aging treatments than just Botox. Advanced Aesthetic Dermatology is pleased to offer our male patients a large selection of services that are designed to treat common cosmetic concerns among men

Juvederm is an anti-aging solution that delivers an almost immediate, noticeable difference in facial appearance. It’s an injectable treatment containing hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in our bodies. Once injected, the treatment supports the underlying extracellular matrix and erases any evidence of wrinkles, fine lines, and can restore volume to areas that have become depleted by the aging process.

Patients desiring a toned, defined body can do so with non-surgical CoolSculpting treatment. During treatment, a device will deliver freezing temperatures to fat cells in targeted areas of your physique. Over time, the body will naturally discard these damaged cells, leading to a slimmer, toned contour.

SmartLipo offers men to achieve attractive body contour with a procedure that combines laser energy and gentle liposuction power. After small incisions are made, a cannula is inserted to heat and melt the fat with laser energy. Once the fat becomes liquified, the cannula’s soft suction power will gently remove it from the body. Following a successful recovery, patients will see a more defined abdomen, legs, arms, and chest.

No, Botox will not freeze your face. Despite exaggerations in movies and TV shows, Botox will not paralyze your face or inhibit your expressions. Once injected, Botox temporarily blocks nerve signals responsible for facial muscle movements. In time, male patients will see a vast reduction in facial wrinkles, fine lines, grooves, and indentations.

Your treatment is based on your aesthetic intentions and needs. During your consultation, we’ll examine the amount of Botox needed to treat your condition.
