“In over 20 years of treating skin with light, Sciton’s new BBL HERO is the closest we have come to the Fountain of Youth for keeping skin young and healthy” – Patrick Bitter Jr., MD
Sciton’s BBL HERO, Forever Young + Plus, Forever Body, MOXI and MJoule are Sciton’s newest light-based skin rejuvenation devices based on the latest technology innovation from Sciton Lasers, made in the USA in Palo Alto, California. MJoule is Sciton’s platform with the newest, most significant technological advance in the 20 years: the BBL HERO Technology. Sciton’s MJoule also has MOXI , a fractional laser that gently resurfaces the skin. BBL HERO leverages broadband light to refresh the signs of aging across many areas of the body. Broadband light (BBL), is advancement upon the familiar intense pulsed light (IPL) technology.
The legendary Ponce de Leon quested for the mythical Fountain of Youth. He wanted to stop himself from aging. A noble goal because aging happens to us all. It’s one of the truly universal issues we all face. Loose or sagging skin, leathery skin, and dry skin are just some of the damage caused by the sun and time. We might not be able to find a literal fountain that transforms us back to youth. But with the latest light therapy devices from Sciton, we can benefit from a metaphorical Fountain of Youth that renews our skin and treats the signs of aging. Unlike Ponce’s fantasy fountain, the benefits of light therapy are scientifically verified.
Sciton released two light devices in June 2020, one laser and one broadband light (BBL) device. Dr. Bitter helped develop the protocols for these products for months before release. Now, he trains other doctors on their proper use. If you want to find your personal fountain of youth, seek out Dr. Bitter; there is no one more knowledgeable on using light therapy to reverse the effects of aging. If you are considering light therapy of any kind, connect with Dr. Bitter in his Los Gatos, California office and schedule a consultation.
As one of the world’s leading experts on using light treatments for anti-aging, Dr. Patrick Bitter Jr. participates in Sciton’s development and testing for new devices.
About mJoule BBL HERO and MOXI
“Broadband light has transformed what we can go when rejuvenating the skin” – Patrick Bitter Jr., MD
All the names and acronyms of the laser devices might get confusing. Let’s explain them one at a time.
Sciton is one of the world’s leading companies that develops light-based devices for medical and cosmetic applications. These devices include lasers and broadband light (BBL) devices. Broadband light devices are also called Intense Pulsed Light (IPL).
mJoule is Sciton’s FDA-approved platform that forms the skeleton upon which new devices are developed. The platform development process ensures the highest degree of safety and effectiveness when rolling out new products. MOXI and BBL HERO are not new inventions, rather they result from Sciton’s ever-evolving mJoule platform.
WHAT IS MOXI?
MOXI is a non-ablative fractional laser designed for resurfacing facial skin. Non-ablative lasers work by targeting the layers of skin beneath the outer layer to treat damaged skin and jumpstart collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are essential elements that keep the skin looking fresh and full of life. Since they target deep layers of skin, non-ablative lasers like MOXI can be effective on all skin types, year-round.
WHAT IS BBL HERO?
BBL HERO stands for broadband light (BBL) high energy rapid output (HERO). Broadband light/IPL differs from lasers. Lasers use a narrowly focused wavelength on the light spectrum. IPL uses a broad spectrum of light, hence the name broadband light. Sciton innovated HERO to allow medical practitioners to conduct treatments faster than ever before. Sciton markets BBL HERO under two brands, Forever Young+ and Forever Body. Both are designed to treat areas of the body, including arms, legs, chest, and hands, that show noticeable signs of aging.
WHAT ARE THE PHOTO FACIAL™ & TURBO BODY ™?
Dr. Bitter uses specially formulated BBL HERO treatments for their speed and power at facilitating anti-aging. Dr. Bitter has shown, in scientific studies, that BBL can effectively restore gene expression in aged skin to recreate the vibrancy of youthful skin.[1] Photo Facial™ is Dr. Bitter’s treatment for using broadband light for facial rejuvenation. Turbo Body ™ is Dr. Bitter’s unique procedure for treating the body with broadband light.
Still a little confused? That’s okay. Dr. Bitter would be delighted to explain both light devices in greater detail. Give him a call at (408) 358-5757 and his staff will gladly set you up with an appointment.

Candidates
Candidates for BROADBAND Light therapy should be in good health and with a realistic wish to rejuvenate their skin. Treatments like Forever Young + Plus, Forever Body, and MOXI might be able to reverse signs of aging but they aren’t a literal fountain of youth that returns you to actually being 21. And you probably don’t want it to do that! You don’t want to lose the great memories you’ve collected but instead refresh your appearance to look younger. Dr. Bitter’s experience using light to remedy the effects of aging can help you with that. One of the pioneers at using light to remedy many of the skin and dermatological concerns or ailments people have. Dr. Bitter has also developed protocols to demonstrate that BBL can effectively treat acne and acne scars. Dr. Bitter also uses BroadBand Light, Micro Laser Peel, ProFractional, Halo, and Moxi to treat scars and can improve the look of skin and skin conditions.

Preparation
In the weeks before your treatment, you should avoid tanning, both at tanning salons and under the sun. You should also avoid blood-thinning medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and other supplements. Blood-thinning medication can affect your circulation and increase the chances of bruising and swelling. On the day of your laser/BBL sessions, avoid wearing perfume, make-up, or other topicals that may irritate the skin or interfere with your treatment. You want to make sure your body is in optimal condition, primed, and ready for your treatments.
Procedure
MOXI revitalizes the skin and regenerates collagen and elastin quicker and easier than ever before. MOXI represents the pinnacle of Sciton’s two-plus decades of experience in developing lasers to rejuvenate the skin. MOXI treats unbalanced skin pigmentation, acne scars, skin firmness issues, rough skin texture, and more. With the evolution of using lasers for facial rejuvenation, MOXI treatments can be undergone during your lunch hour and you’ll still have time to pick up some take-out.
Dr. Bitter deploys the new Forever Body and Forever Young+ technologies to treat issues of aging on the body, including sun spots, age spots, undesirable skin tone, and redness of the skin. Innovative new technology makes broadband light treatments quicker than ever. In just minutes, you can receive a powerful, non-invasive treatment to counteract the effects of aging on your skin. Treatments with the BBL HERO series are now up to 4 times faster than earlier versions. An improvement in your complexion becomes visible after just one visit.
BBL HERO and MOXI procedures complement each other, one for the face and one for the body. Using both treatments in combination, you can refresh your overall appearance and stave off the worst effects of aging.
Recovery
Recovery from light therapy sessions is simple. You won’t need long recovery times and weeks taken off work. Dr. Bitter may recommend you apply an anesthetic topical cream to the area that received treatment and to stay out of the sun for a few days. But, just 24 hours after treatment, you can apply makeup again.
Results
“Skin cells in aged people, when treated with broadband light, have been rejuvenated to behave like much younger people” – Patrick Bitter Jr., MD
Sciton’s revolutionary products continue to show measurable results. Dr. Bitter recommends 1-3 initial treatment sessions for Photo Facial / Turbo Body / BBL HERO body treatments and 3-4 initial treatment sessions for MOXI laser resurfacing of the face. Results should become visible in 2-4 weeks after BBL HERO sessions.
One concern with laser treatment has traditionally been whether they can be effective on dark skin tones. Don’t fret, medical research has found both BBL and non-ablative lasers are effective at treating conditions and stimulating collagen and elastin in patients with darker skin types.[5][6]
